Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) is a unit of the Alberta Sheriffs that helps keep communities safe by dealing with problem properties that are being used for specific illegal activity such as:

  • drug trafficking

  • prostitution

  • child exploitation

  • gang-related crime

Reporting suspicious properties through SCAN:

  • improves community safety

  • empowers citizens

  • targets properties, not individuals

  • holds property owners accountable for activities on their properties

provide the public with online access to news, crime reporting, detachment locations, crime mapping and statistics, and a map for initiatives like Project Lock Up. The app also provides access to partner law enforcement services, mental health supports, Crime Stoppers and links to Alberta RCMP social media accounts.

This online tool will allow residents to easily submit service requests to report non-emergency infrastructure concerns such as:

  • customer complaints 

  • potholes

  • damaged signs

  • sidewalk cracks

  • other items deemed a potential hazard

The submitter will be provided with a tracking number that can be used to follow up on the request. Those who submit concerns will also be notified once the request has been completed.

RAVE

Phone Case

RAVE is a web based communication platform that RCMP officers are mandated to fan out real time alerts to community members in Alberta. Alerts are operational and educational in nature. They might look like BOLOs (Be On the Look Out), Crime Prevention, Victim Services, and District reports. Alerts are sent via email, text message or phone call – preference is on the account user.
